Privacy Policy

Damn Video (“Damn Video,” “we,” “us”) is a video hosting service at damnvideo.co, run by [Damn Video LLC — confirm legal name], a [State] [type of company, e.g. limited liability company]. This policy explains what we collect when you use Damn Video (the “Service”), why, who else handles it, and what you can do about it.
1. Information We Collect
We collect your account information, billing information (via Stripe), and video file metadata necessary for hosting. In more detail:
- Account details. Your name, email address and password. Your password is stored only in hashed form, never as plain text.
- Workspace details. Each account is a workspace. We keep its name, the email addresses of the people you invite, and each person’s role (owner, admin or member).
- Billing details. Stripe handles payments. Your card number goes straight to Stripe and is never stored by Damn Video. We keep your plan, your subscription status and dates (such as when a trial or billing period ends), and the ID Stripe uses for your account.
- Your videos. The video files you upload or import from a link, plus details like file name, size and title.
- Your websites. The websites and domains you add, and whether you’ve chosen to let your videos play only on those domains.
- Viewing data. When someone plays one of your videos, our delivery network (Bunny.net) records the request in an access log: the viewer’s IP address, the page that loaded the video (the referrer), their browser’s user agent, the file requested, the time and the amount of data sent. Once a day we read these logs to work out how much bandwidth each video used. We keep only the totals per video. We don’t store viewers’ IP addresses, referrers or user agents in our own systems.
- Connected AI apps and API keys. If you connect an AI app (such as Claude) to your account, we keep a record of which apps you’ve approved. If you create an API key, we store it in a form that can’t be read back as plain text, along with the name you gave it.
- Upload links. When you share a no-login upload link, the person using it doesn’t need an account. We receive the file they upload and its file name, and store it in your workspace.
- Messages. Anything you send us, for example an email to support.
- Basic request data. Like any website, our hosting provider processes standard request data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver pages and protect the Service from abuse.
2. How We Use Information
We use your information to deliver the Service, process payments, and communicate with you regarding your account. That includes:
- storing your videos and delivering them to your viewers;
- creating signed playback links that expire, and enforcing a domain lock if you’ve turned one on;
- measuring your usage against your plan’s limits on active videos, bandwidth and storage;
- running your free trial and monthly billing;
- sending emails about your account, such as email confirmations, password resets and team invitations;
- answering your questions; and
- keeping the Service secure and stopping abuse.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
3. Third Parties
We share information only with essential services required to operate Damn Video. Each one handles it only to provide its part of the Service:
- Stripe processes payments and holds your card details.
- Bunny.net stores and delivers your videos. Files are stored in New York, with a replica in Los Angeles, and delivered through Bunny.net’s content delivery network (CDN). Bunny.net also keeps the access logs described above for a short time.
- Vercel hosts the Damn Video website and app.
- Neon hosts our database (Postgres), which holds your account, workspace and video details.
- Resend sends our account emails.
We also share information in these cases:
- Your team. People in your workspace can see its videos, websites and usage, according to their role.
- Apps you connect. An AI app you connect, or anything using an API key you created, can see and change what your account allows. What that app does with the data is covered by its own privacy policy.
- The law. If we’re legally required to, or need to in order to protect the Service, our users or the public.
- A change of ownership. If Damn Video is sold or merged, your information may move to the new owner, who will be bound by this policy.
4. Cookies
We use cookies only to keep you signed in. Damn Video doesn’t use advertising or tracking cookies. Playing a video on your website doesn’t set a Damn Video cookie on your viewers.
5. Your Viewers
When you embed your videos on your own website, you decide who watches them, and we process their viewing data on your behalf. You’re responsible for telling your own visitors how your website handles their information.
6. Where Your Data Is Stored
Your video files are stored in the United States, in New York with a replica in Los Angeles. Our other providers may process data in the United States or in other countries where they operate.
7. How Long We Keep It
- We keep your account information for as long as your account is open.
- If your plan lapses, your videos stop playing, but we keep the stored files until you delete them, so you can pick up where you left off.
- Bandwidth totals stay with each video until the video is deleted.
- When you delete a video, we delete its file from storage. Deleted data may stay in backups for a limited time before it’s overwritten.
- We keep billing records for as long as tax and accounting rules require.
8. Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information but cannot guarantee complete security. Those steps include encrypted connections, hashed passwords and API keys, playback links that are signed and expire, and an optional lock that keeps your videos playing only on your own domains.
9. Your Rights
You may request deletion or correction of your personal data by contacting support@damnvideo.co. You can also ask us for a copy of it. Some things you can do yourself in the dashboard:
- delete any video;
- remove team members (if you’re an owner or admin);
- disconnect AI apps and revoke API keys; and
- cancel your plan.
To delete your whole account and the data tied to it, email us and we’ll take care of it. Depending on where you live, you may have other rights under local privacy law. We’ll honor them as that law requires.
10. Children
Damn Video is meant for businesses and adults. It isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information.
11. Changes to Privacy Policy
We may update this policy and will notify you of significant changes, by email or with a notice in your dashboard. The effective date at the top always shows the current version.
